NORTH ISLAND Guest Services and information portal.
North Island is a floating haven, a tropical paradise in the midst of the waters of the Indian Ocean. Epitomising the concept of barefoot luxury, just 11 villas offer guests an escape from today’s overcrowded world. The essence of exclusivity, each villa is a private sanctuary embraced by swaying palm trees fringing the white sands of a magnificent deserted beach.

Each villa has been individually handcrafted by Seychellois and African craftsmen, creating an exquisite space of privacy and harmony in which to relax completely. The villas are raised to catch the cooling sea breeze along with stunning views of the deep blue ocean.
North Island has been dubbed “Noah’s Ark”: a sanctuary where natural habitats are being rehabilitated and where critically endangered Seychelles fauna and flora are being reintroduced and given a place to regenerate.

The Island as a whole comprises one of the most ambitious conservation projects ever undertaken by a private company. The first step was to remove the rats and alien vegetation that had colonised the island after years of neglect. This was followed by planting over 100 000 indigenous seedlings and our first reintroduction of Aldabra giant tortoises, which supplemented the existing population and provided a natural grazing element to the ecosystem. We followed this with a successful introduction of 30 Seychelles white-eyes in 2007. The rehabilitation of the marsh also allowed for the 2008 introduction of black mud terrapins, another reptilian endemic. A number of other endemic species, such as the Seychelles blue pigeon, have recolonised the island without human assistance. Recent years have also seen the re-establishment of breeding populations of ground-nesting wedge-tailed shearwaters and white-tailed tropicbirds.

We look forward to hosting you on North Island, experience true barefoot luxury.
